“As this was my first cricket tour and I travelled on my own from Australia, I was a little unsure what to expect. I needn’t have worried. I was impressed by all aspects, however the one factor that really stood out was the personal service. I exchanged numerous e-mails with Steve Eatherington in the pre-booking phase. All were replied to punctually and helpfully. I appreciated the meet and greet at The Cullinan on arrival from a 24 hour journey, and the following evening the welcome drinks, where Steve spent two hours introducing the company and in general being a very welcoming host. The tour managers in the Cullinan were very good, I enjoyed Des’ brief commentaries and humour each day (and am currently enjoying reading his book) and Charlie did a very good job of mixing with us in the evening. I met some lovely people whose company I enjoyed thoroughly, both at the cricket and in the evenings. The farewell dinner with Geoffrey Boycott was an excellent way to end the tour. And, of course, the highlights were witnessing the historic innings and partnership of Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow, Hashim Amla’s double-hundred and the first century for South Africa by a black African, Temba Bavuma. All in all it was a special trip, and I hope to have another in the near future with Howzat Travel.”
