“Following our first Ashes tour with Howzat in 2013, this time we did the Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth tests and once again it was a wonderful experience. Each test had periods where the cricket was competitive and enjoyable from an England perspective and we witnessed history with the first day-night test and the final WACA test. And between the cricket we loved the fantastic trips to iconic places in Australia – the Great Barrier Reef, Barossa Wine Valley and Uluru. As we have always found, Howzat delivered a first-class service with everything always in place as you would want. The main “team” of Ian, Steve, Carl and Charlie all contributed throughout with particularly helpful flight advice and arranging a bespoke element to our trip between the first two tests. In addition, the match tickets selected were excellent. “Huge thanks to Howzat for an amazing tour experience to Brisbane and Adelaide and the short break in Sydney. Despite some bizarre weather in Adelaide, arrived in 38 degrees and two days later Day 1 at the match one of the coldest December days they had experienced in decades, at which point we raided the ski shop! In spite of some mediocre spells of cricket from England, there were also sessions with optimism and particularly Day 4 in Adelaide when we left the Stadium buoyed after a fantastic day of cricket. The match results did not impact on my enjoyment of the tour, the memories will all be of new friends made, old friends revisited, fantastically funny moments throughout both matches and amazing banter with Aussie fans. Howzat arranged for sessions and Q&As with Mike Hussey, Geoffrey Boycott and Michael Vaughan – all were excellent. In between there were beach days in the sunshine, relaxing in fantastic bars and restaurants and walking through the beautiful botanical gardens. Sydney is just as incredible as it appears on the TV and my helicopter ride over the Opera House, harbours and beaches was a perfect end to a perfect trip despite virtually waving goodbye to the Ashes.
