    AUCKLAND TO QUEENSTOWN

    Arriving into New Zealand in Auckland you have some time to clear customs and immigration, collect your bags and stretch your legs before checking in for the flight south to Queenstown where you will be staying for four nights on a B&B basis. 

    Queenstown is one of the most popular destinations in New Zealand. Built on Lake Wakatipu, the longest lake in NZ, its natural beauty and infrastructure makes it a popular backdrop for many movie sets!

    Queenstown is best explored on foot, therefore, after a long journey stretching your legs around the Lakefront or Queenstown Gardens is a nice way to spend some time.

  • Day 4

    Day at Leisure

    This morning, a sightseeing tour of the city is included. Highlights will include a visit to Arrowtown, a quaint village set on the banks of the Arrow River, which was once a rip-roaring gold rush town.

    Enjoy an afternoon at leisure in Queenstown - lending itself perfectly to catching up on some well-earned rest! Why not check out the city from above? The Gondola is the best way to see the famous view of Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables, scaling 450 meters to the top of Bobs Peak where you can relax and take in the view from multiple angles.

    In the evening, you are invited to join your Tour Manager and the rest of your group for welcome drinks. This will also be an ideal chance for you to meet your fellow Howzat Travellers.

  • Day 5

    Day at Leisure

    Enjoy a relaxing day in Queenstown.

    Although famous for it's adrenaline fuelled activities, Queenstown also boasts a bustling food and wine scene - Pinot Noir is the award-winning and iconic grape of this region. There are also plenty of walking trails around the city which offer stunning views, and Onsen Hot Pools, overlooking the Shotover River, is always a popular retreat to relax.

  • Day 6

    Sightseeing Excursion - Milford Sound

    Board the coach early this morning for a trip to the famous Milford Sound, included in your package. The views will make this long day worth it, there is plenty to see, and it was a favourite on Howzat's last tour to the South Island! We will make stops for coffee and photo's along the way, and lunch is included. Once we get to Milford Sound we will take a cruise on the water along the fiord and admire the  waterfalls and wildlife. Milford Sound has some of the world's freshest water and is a bucket list destination for many.

    QUEENSTOWN TO CHRISTCHURCH

    Today we depart Queenstown to join the other Howzat travellers in Christchurch ahead of the first Test Match.

  • Day 8-12

    New Zealand v England - 1st Test

    Each morning, board the Howzat transfer to the match. After the day’s play the coach will return you to your hotel.

    England have only played a Test match here once before, so this will be a new pitch for much of the squad. That game ended in a draw - it would be fair to say that under Ben Stokes's stewardship, a result will be much more likely this time around!

    A day to enjoy Christchurch before heading to Wellington tomorrow.

    Christchurch is a vibrant city offering spectacular culture and heritage. Quake City is a museum that's well worth a visit - encapsulating the impact of the earthquake that occurred here.

  • Day 14

    Christchurch to Wellington

    Today we head to the North Island in preparation for the second Test!

    On arrival into Wellington we will transfer to the hotel for a seven night stay. 

    Nestled between green hills and a sparkling harbour, Wellington is a vibrant city with a buzzing art, music, theatre and restaurant scene, as well as designer and boutique shopping. Wellington is also home to the New Zealand Parliament and the national museum, Te Papa.

  • Day 15

    Day at Leisure

    A day to become accustomed to your new surroundings in Wellington.

    Wellington is renowned for its vibrant culture - Hannah's Laneway is right in the heart of the city and is the perfect place to taste some local flavours or pick up some souvenirs. Another must-do is the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, which will give you a great insight into Maori culture.

  • Day 16-20

    New Zealand v England - 2nd Test

    Each morning transfer with the group to the Basin Reserve for all five days of the second Test. At the end of each day's play, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

    England's last Test here in 2023 is certainly one that sticks in the memory...

    Wellington to Rotorua

    This morning we will depart Wellington on the Northern Explorer Train! This unique journey will take you into the heart of the North Island and is a really great way to see New Zealand's volcanic plateau.

    At Otorohanga we will disembark the train and drive to Rotorua - a culturally and geographically significant location, it's been a popular part of lots of Howzat New Zealand trips.

    Day at Leisure

    A day at leisure to enjoy this beautiful part of the country!

    This evening we will be visiting the Tamaki Maori Village for a Te Pā Tū ceremony. It's set to be a memorable day and will include Maori song, tradition, and divine seasonal cuisine - including the famous Hāngi dinner. This is included in your package.

  • Day 23

    Rotorua to Hamilton

    This morning we have included a guided visit of the National Kiwi Hatchery - Aotearoa. Here we will learn about Kiwi recovery programmes and how this Hatchery is playing its part in bringing the bird back from the brink of extinction on the New Zealand mainland.

    After this, we will travel by coach over the Mamaku Ranges, continuing north into the Waikato Valley and on to Hamilton, the destination for the final test Match. On arrival, check-in to your hotel for a six night stay on a B&B basis.

The Hagley Oval in Christchurch has hosted cricket matches since as far back as 1867, but has been redeveloped since the earthquake in the city in 2011. Both Kane Williamson and Tom Latham have Test Match double centuries on this pitch - England's bowlers will have to be on top of their game here.

One of the most popular cricket grounds in the world, and is labelled as a Historic Area in New Zealand. Turned from a swamp into a cricket ground in 1857, it's the oldest Test cricket stadium in New Zealand, and is also the location where now England coach Brendon McCullum scored his famous 302 in 2014. The New Zealand Cricket Museum is also housed on-site, displaying cricket memorabilia and a reference library.
